VENICE: Despite local opposition, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his journalist fiancée Lauren Sanchez arrived in Venice on Wednesday in advance of three days of extravagant VIP parties to mark their wedding in the picturesque lagoon city.
The renowned “wedding of the century” is expected to cost Bezos between 40 and 48 million euros ($46 and $56), and an estimated 90 private jets are scheduled to descend in local airports this week, carrying A-listers from the entertainment, political, and financial sectors.
A Reuters reporter caught the couple entering the upscale Aman Venice Hotel on the Grand Canal, where many of the stars would be staying.
On Thursday evening, there will be an outdoor event in the Madonna dell’Orto cloisters to begin the festivities.
