KARACHI: In the quarterfinals of the Asian 6-Red Snooker Championship in Colombo, Muhammad Asif of Pakistan defeated Lim Kok Leong of Malaysia after a fierce battle, winning 5-3 in a best-of-nine frames match to go to the semifinals.
With a dominating 3-0 lead after winning the first three sets with scores of 67-0, 43-21, and 27-19, Asif dominated the early going. Lim rallied, cutting the deficit to 3-2 by winning the fourth frame 59-31 and the fifth 38-32 after taking advantage of Asif’s missed black ball.
Lim reacted well in the seventh frame, stopping Asif 68-0, but the Pakistani player recovered momentum by winning the sixth frame 38-25.
Both players fought evenly till the very end of the fiercely contested eighth frame.
