For the forthcoming MBBS admissions, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has raised the registration cost for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) from Rs7,000 to Rs9,000 once more.
The most recent increment, which increased from Rs5,000 in 2023 to Rs7,000 in 2024, represents a sharp 80% increase in just two years.
Constant rise in test costs
For applicants to medical and dental schools in Pakistan, the MDCAT is a required entrance exam. The cost of taking the test has increased by Rs4,000 over the last two years, further taxing thousands of applicants and their families.
