The ECP has said that reserved seats will be allotted on the basis of the Election Act 2017 and that parties without election symbols will not be awarded any reserved seats.
In a statement, the electoral body said that if independent candidates do not join any political party, then the reserved seats will be distributed amongst the political parties in a proportion that is in line with their respective representation in the assemblies.
The electoral watchdog has further stressed that the political parties need to submit the names of their candidates for the reserved seats to the ECP within the announced deadline.
