After years of legal scrutiny, the two brothers are relieved by the court’s ruling.
The acquittal came when Hassan and Hussain Nawaz filed an application, with their lawyer, Qazi Misbah, saying that there was insufficient evidence to pursue the case against them.
During the hearing on Tuesday, Misbah stressed that the trial court had already jailed Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia case, and the Islamabad High Court had approved his appeal in December of 2023. He stated that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had not questioned the decision to grant Nawaz Sharif’s appeal, and that there was no more evidence to suggest that Hasan and Hussain Nawaz should be prosecuted.
