Poop baggies are a very unconventional addition to a climber’s packing checklist, but it’s necessary to ensure they are prepared for the difficult ascent of Mount Everest.
The authorities have implemented new regulations requiring climbers to transport their rubbish back to the base in an attempt to reduce pollution at the highest height in the world. Climbing Everest is a costly endeavor; usual costs range from $35K to $50,000 and include the cost of the permit, equipment, and Sherpa guides.
However, the growing number of climbers exacerbates an old issue of garbage accumulation in the harsh environment, which slows down the waste’s natural decomposition.
The Everest Summiteers Association’s first vice president, Diwas Pokhrel, claims that this issue is among the most significant.
