A well-known bread manufacturer in Japan is recalling thousands of packages and providing refunds after rat remains were discovered in one of its products.
The Pasco Shikishima Corporation has recalled over 104,000 boxes of sliced white bread off the shops. At least two envelopes had contained pieces of the black rat.
Pasco bread is widely available in supermarkets and convenience stores all around Japan, where it is a mainstay in many households.
Pasco stated in a statement earlier this week that there have been no instances of anyone becoming ill as a result up to this point.
“We deeply apologise for the inconvenience caused to our customers, business partners, and all concerned parties,” read the statement.
