With his historic win in the Democratic mayoral primary in New York City, Zohran Mamdani is now positioned to become the first Muslim mayor of the city.
After Mamdani established a clear lead, former Governor Andrew Cuomo conceded Tuesday night, allowing the 33-year-old democratic socialist to pull off a significant upset.
As the fans applauded, Mamdani declared, “Tonight, we made history.” “I’m going to be your Democratic candidate for New York City mayor.”
Zionist Cuomo versus Socialist Mamdani
Mamdani had 43.5% of the vote with 93% of the votes counted, while Cuomo was in second place with 36.4%. Final results could take days due to New York City’s ranked-choice voting method, although Mamdani is anticipated to gain from second-choice votes, especially from leftist Brad Lander supporters.
