In response to Senator Faisal Vawda’s letter to the court’s registrar on Thursday, the Islamabad High Court disclosed the exchange of letters between Justice Babar Sattar and then-IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah on the latter’s green card.
The court’s registrar responded to the senator by saying, “The information sought by the high court from lawyers being considered for elevation/appointment as judge does not include information regarding residency and/or citizenship of any country other than Pakistan.”
In the letter, the registrar used Vawda to support IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq’s contention that the country’s Constitution does not bar a judge from holding such a position.
In a letter to the IHC on April 30, the lawmaker mentioned the social media campaign criticizing Justice Sattar.
