When you think of the ocean, you may see bright turquoise waters, but new research reveals that portions of our planet’s oceans are really becoming greener. The primary culprit could be climate change.
As global temperatures rise, some seas become greener, particularly in low latitudes near the equator, while others become bluer.
Although the shift in color is not discernible to the naked eye, satellite images can record the change.
“The colour itself is not something that’s easy to describe with human language or that you can even see that well,” B B Cael explains.
