Former South African President Jacob Zuma has launched a stinging attack on some of the country’s top judges following his ban from running for parliament on Monday.
In his first interview since the suspension, Mr Zuma told the news that the Constitutional Court was wrong to rule that he was unfit to run because of his 2021 contempt of court conviction.
“I expected that from our judges, but they were clearly wrong. “Not correct,” the 82-year-old stated, adding that the constitution should be amended.
Before next week’s national election, Mr Zuma has been campaigning for the newly founded uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party.
He joined the party after a falling out with the governing African National Congress (ANC), which he previously led.
