According to the state department, Sudan will face additional penalties from the US after it was discovered to have used chemical weapons against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during the ongoing civil conflict last year.
According to a statement from spokesman Tammy Bruce, starting on June 6, the United States would impose restrictions on its exports and financial borrowing limits.
The accusations were called “baseless claims with no supporting evidence” by a spokesman for the Sudanese government.
The RSF, a paramilitary organization, and the Sudanese military have both denied accusations of war crimes throughout the conflict.
