RAWALPINDI: Imran Khan, the imprisoned founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), declared on Tuesday that his organization was prepared to have discussions with the armed forces.
The PTI founder declared, “We are ready to hold talks with the military,” when he appeared in court, which had been set up in the Adiala jail. The army ought to choose a representative [for the talks].”
After spending over a year in prison, Khan said that his party had never made accusations against the army, simply criticisms of the armed forces.
He added that the authorities ought to punish any PTI employees found guilty of taking part in the disturbances on May 9, 2023.
Khan restated that by driving a rift between the PTI party and the current administration, they want to destroy his party. He responded, “What is the SIFC?,” when asked why he was seeking negotiations while criticizing the army and why he wasn’t seeking talks with political parties. Mohsin Naqvi is who? Martial law has not been formally declared.”
Interior Minister Naqvi was “their” representative, according to Khan, who also claimed that he had come “this far because of them.”
Then he declared that Naqvi and the Punjab Inspector General (IG) “oppressed” his party and that he would never speak with Naqvi again.
The PTI founder also called Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz “fascist” in his remarks, citing the party’s leadership’s consecutive arrests around the province.
