At Woolwich Crown Court in London on Tuesday, Abraham Alade Olarotimi Onifade, 41, Abayomi Aderinsoye Shodipo, 38, Nosimot Mojisola Gbadamosi, 31, and Adekunle Kabir, 54, were all given sentences.
According to the Home Office, the four were a member of an organized crime organization that applied for Nigerian nationals’ fictitious EU Settlement Scheme applications.
They conducted the business from March 2019 to May of the previous year. It was also discovered that, in order to aid applicants in staying in the nation, they had furnished forged Nigerian customary marriage certificates and other bogus papers.
The gang, who were themselves Nigerian, facilitated the creation of over 2,000 bogus marriage certificates, according to an inquiry conducted by the Home Office in the UK and Lagos.
Like many of the gangs we come across, their only concern was making money. It is with great satisfaction that my team was able to snoop on their activity, and I hope that these convictions will act as a deterrent to unscrupulous gangs that take advantage of people’s desperate attempts to stay in the UK.
We are going to keep working nonstop to fortify our borders and take action against the gangs that prey on the weak in order to profit.
