Following the hacking of various government and private organization official accounts, Tanzania has limited access to the social media site X.
The official police account was breached on Tuesday, posting bogus information claiming the president had passed away along with sexually explicit content.
The police said an inquiry was underway to find the culprits and distanced themselves from the information.
X was “unreachable on major internet providers” nationwide, according to data obtained hours later from the internet monitoring group Netblocks.
