Pakistan on Saturday vehemently denied the unilateral US sanctions against IT firms purportedly associated with the nation’s ballistic missile development, describing them as unjust, baseless, and unnecessary.
Pakistan views this as a politically motivated and biased action. Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mofa) spokeswoman, said in a statement that “similar listings of commercial entities in the past were based on mere suspicion; involved items not listed under any export control regime and yet were considered sensitive under broad, catch-all provisions.”
“It is widely known that some countries while claiming strict adherence to nonproliferation norms, have conveniently waived licensing requirements for advanced military technologies to their favoured states.”
Baloch stated that the US sanctions “undermine the credibility of global nonproliferation” and that they “are discriminatory and based on double standards.”
