The India International Centre (IIC) held an event on a foggy monsoon evening in Delhi that went beyond the usual literary meets. It was the simultaneous debut in Delhi and Lahore of Osama Siddique’s Urdu novel “Ghuroob e Shehr Ka Waqt” (The Hour of a City’s Twilight). The event brought together in Delhi a varied array of notable literary luminaries, performers, publishers, jurists, and storytellers, reaffirming the idea that literature can assist transcend boundaries and divides and help develop understanding and friendship.
While the rain pattered on the expansive, verdant grounds of Osama Siddique’s study in Lahore, he looked out across miles of open fields, barbed wire fences, and numerous villages and towns lit up for the evening.
