The National Health Institute announced that a 10-month-old girl in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been proven to have contracted the polio virus.
With this case, KP has now seen two cases of polio this year, bringing the total to 23 cases nationwide.
Ayesha Raza, the prime minister’s spokesperson for the eradication of polio, has voiced grave concerns over the growing number of cases.
In order to stop the virus from spreading further, she has asked parents to make sure that all of their children obtain their polio immunizations.
According to the Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme, there have been four instances recorded from Sindh, fifteen cases from Balochistan, and one each from Punjab, KP, and Islamabad.
