As Israelis took cover in bomb shelters from the barrage of missiles, explosions could be heard across Jerusalem and the Jordan River valley.
News has reporters covering this major crisis escalation from Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, and Israel.
This is what they saw.
Folks attempting to “take some cover”
Looking up at the sky from Tel Aviv, Middle East correspondent Alistair Bunkall observed, “We are talking probably in excess of 50, 60, or 70 missiles.”
He clarified that it was difficult to tell the difference between an approaching missile and one that had been launched by because of the “huge amount of activity in the air above us.”
The Iranian rockets, according to Bunkall, were aimed for central Tel Aviv.
According to Bunkall, the strikes of tonight seem to be a part of a “far larger attack than April,” when Israel bombed the Iranian embassy in Syria and Iran responded by firing weaponry at Israel.
This time, it looks like Iran fired ballistic missiles, which take ten to twelve minutes to reach Israel.
Back in April it was drones – more slower and easier to intercept.
As of right now, “a lot of people” are outside, according to Bunkall tonight.
