US President Joe Biden has postponed his meeting with Sir Keir Starmer and the leaders of France and Germany in Berlin this coming weekend.
Due to the “projected trajectory and strength of Hurricane Milton,” the White House announced that the president will be “postponing” his planned state visit to Germany and Angola until Saturday in order to “oversee preparations for and the response” to the storm.
In addition, the “ongoing response to the impacts of Hurricane Helene across the southeast” is under his direction.
The spokeswoman for Sir Keir Starmer earlier on Tuesday verified that he, Mr. Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz would be meeting on Saturday in Berlin.
It is unclear if the meeting will still take place in Mr. Biden’s absence.
According to Sir Keir’s spokesman, the focus of the “Quad” nations’ meeting would be “concerning developments” in the Middle East and the state of affairs in Ukraine.
The meeting was scheduled to take place during Mr. Biden’s official state visit to Germany, when he was expected to attend a meeting of the Ramstein group, which is made up of more than 40 countries that arm Ukraine.
