Unreadable medico-legal report flagged by the court
A “legible medical prescription is a fundamental right,” according to a recent ruling by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. During a bail hearing in a case including accusations of fraud, deceit, and rape, the observation was made.
Judge Jasgurpreet Singh Puri said that after seeing a medico-legal report provided by a government physician that he considered to be entirely unintelligible, his conscience was “shaken.” According to the court judgment, people are seriously at danger from prescriptions prepared in this way.
