ISLAMABAD: Omar Ayub Khan, leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has stated that the government is offering opposition lawmakers up to Rs1 billion to change their allegiance in order to gain approval from the Parliament House for constitutional amendments.
Is this not a dishonorable situation? “Is democracy for sale here?” said the opposition leader during the National Assembly’s discussion on the proposed amendments.
A proposal made by PPP lawmaker Naveed Qamar launched a debate on the proposed constitutional revisions in the NA on Thursday. It’s interesting to see that the House began debating the proposal before to its table.
“It is preferable to allow for discussion so that suggestions can be made.”
