Due to a security incident, London’s South Terminal at Gatwick Airport was evacuated this morning, severely disrupting planes and passengers.
At 9:55 am, the event was filed as a “passenger security investigation,” but by 11:08 am, it had escalated to a gold-level emergency. “A significant portion of the South Terminal has been evacuated as a precaution while we continue to investigate a security incident,” Gatwick Airport said in a statement published on X (previously Twitter). During this time, passengers won’t be able to enter the South Terminal.”
Assuring that security and safety are their primary concerns, the airport stated that they are “working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
Information updates are anticipated regarding the delayed departure of flights from the South Terminal.
