A new agreement between the United States and Iran has been signed to extend the ceasefire between both countries. A White House official confirmed that the deal is now active. President Donald Trump signed the memorandum during the G7 summit in Evian les Bains in France.
The agreement is a 14 point document and outlines several major commitments. It focuses on stopping conflict, limiting nuclear development, and opening space for economic recovery discussions.
End of Military Actions Across All Fronts
The agreement states that all military operations between the United States, Iran, and their partners will stop immediately. It also includes regions such as Lebanon.
Both sides agreed not to begin new attacks or issue threats against each other. The document also emphasizes respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Officials say the goal is to move from active conflict toward a long term peace framework. However, it is still unclear how regional actors will respond, especially Israel.
Nuclear Weapons Commitment and Restrictions
Iran has agreed that it will not pursue nuclear weapons under this deal. This forms one of the central conditions of the memorandum.
The agreement also introduces a performance based structure. Iran is expected to follow its commitments before receiving any benefits.
Economic Reconstruction Plan
The deal includes a proposed fund of 300 billion dollars aimed at supporting reconstruction and economic development in Iran. The United States is not required to contribute to this fund.
Support under this plan depends on compliance. Iran will only receive benefits if it meets agreed conditions.
