A new justice department investigation claims that although over two dozen FBI informants were in Washington, DC, prior to the riot at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, no full-time undercover agents were present or participated in the actual disturbance.
Four of the agency’s informants entered the Capitol, despite the fact that none of them had permission to enter or participate in the riot, according to the report.
Additionally, the investigation concluded that the FBI had not taken the “basic step” of effectively utilizing its field offices around the United States to get intelligence that could have foreseen the riot.
House Republicans and other conservatives have long advanced the fringe conspiracy idea that the FBI was involved in planning the violence.
