Incident Reported After Routine Grooming Visit
A dog owner has alleged that her pet suffered serious injuries during a grooming appointment in Bargoed, Caerphilly county. The owner, Tegan Williams, 20, said she took her two year old toy poodle and bichon frisé cross, Honey, to Scruffy 2 Fluffy groomers on 15 June. It was the fourth time the dog had visited the same business.
Williams said she later discovered multiple injuries on her dog after it was returned home.
Owner Says Injuries Were Discovered After Return
According to Williams, she first noticed something was wrong when Honey showed signs of distress. She claimed there was blood in the dog’s right eye and a cut on the back of its right leg.
She also said the dog appeared very sensitive when touched and seemed to be in pain.
Williams added that she had not properly inspected Honey immediately after she arrived home because she was dealing with workmen in the house at the time.
Claim of Emergency Vet Treatment and Superglue Use
The situation escalated when Williams contacted an out of hours vet service. She was advised to take Honey to an emergency appointment in Swansea, which cost around £385.
She claims the vet found evidence suggesting “some sort of superglue” had been used on a wounded nipple during an attempt to treat or close the injury.
Williams described the dog as frightened and shaking following the incident.
Groomer Response
Paul Smith, the owner of Scruffy 2 Fluffy, said the incident was an accident. He stated that appropriate steps were taken immediately after the situation occurred.
Williams said Honey had been a regular customer at the grooming business and had previously attended without any issues.
She also questioned comments made about the dog being heavily matted, saying she had brushed Honey that same morning.
