Following Wednesday’s draw in the third test match against Australia in Brisbane, Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin declared his retirement from all forms of international cricket.
At the Gabba, the 38-year-old said media, “This will be my last day as an Indian cricketer in all formats at the international level.”
After Anil Kumble’s 619, the right-arm off-spinner’s 537 wickets from 106 tests rank second among Indian bowlers.
Ashwin returned to the team for the day-night second test in Adelaide, where he grabbed one wicket, despite not being picked for the series opener in Perth.
He was left out of the Brisbane squad, and that game would turn out to be his last test.
