Jennifer Lawrence put a lot of work into promoting a film that she didn’t fully understand while dating a director.
The horror picture in question is Mother!, which was directed by Darren Aronofsky. While dating Afronofsky, the Hunger Games star portrayed the title role.
The thriller was criticized for being difficult to understand and too symbolic.
The No Hard Feelings actress acknowledged that, like moviegoers, she had difficulty understanding the plot during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live.
“On a scale of one to completely confused, how much did you understand your film Mother!” queried host Andy Cohen.
“I’ll be honest,” Lawrence retorted. Well, I had CliffsNotes because I was having an affair with the director.
