The well-known screenwriter and director Ava DuVernay recently talked about why she chose not to marry and start a family.
On the recently launched Audible interview series, The Unusual Suspects with Kenya Barris and Malcolm Gladwell, she spoke with both of them.
“I am the oldest of five,” the 52-year-old said, expressing her feelings. I never felt the need to have children because I have had many young children for a long period.
DuVernay continued, “My parents and family used to remark, ‘You’ll change your mind,’ for a short time before realizing I was serious. I do not believe that I would make a good mother.
