WASHINGTON: On Saturday, President Donald Trump announced that State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce would be the next US deputy representative to the UN.
Since Trump took office in January, Bruce has served as the spokesperson for the State Department.
Trump said she did a “fantastic job” as State Department spokesperson in a social media post announcing her nomination. The US Senate, which is controlled by Trump’s Republican Party, will have to confirm Bruce for the position.
She has defended the Trump administration’s foreign policy choices in press briefings, including the US’s internationally denounced response to Israel’s battle in Gaza and Russia’s conflict in Ukraine, as well as the immigration crackdown and visa revocations.
