As tensions increased after a militant attack in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed 26 tourists, Pakistan retaliated with tit-for-tat actions against India.
Islamabad closed its airspace to Indian planes, expelled some of its neighbor’s diplomats, and immediately suspended any visas granted to Indian nationals under an exemption mechanism.
Three of the four alleged attackers have been identified by Indian authorities, who claim that two of them are Pakistani nationals and the third is a local Kashmiri native. Indian allegations that Pakistan was involved in the shooting are denied by Pakistan.
