India has been under fire from Pakistan for using the Pahalgam bombing, which killed 26 tourists, to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty for political reasons at home. Pakistan has warned that New Delhi is trying to “unleash a hydro war” without any proof or inquiry.
New Delhi has connected Islamabad to the attack without presenting any evidence and initiated a series of punitive measures to downgrade ties include suspending Indus Waters Treaty, revoking visas of Pakistanis, blocking Wagah-Attari border crossing among others.
Pakistan has responded in kind to India’s moves and warned of suspending Simla Agreement, including restricting its airspace for Indian flights. Islamabad has promised to participate in a thorough and reliable probe and denies any participation in the incident.
