Spain, Portugal, and France experience a brief power outage.
Investigators attempt to determine the cause of the outage.
Flights are delayed and transportation is paralyzed by outages.
Parts of Spain and Portugal came to a complete halt Monday due to a massive power outage that caused planes to be grounded, public transportation to stop, panic buying to occur, and the two nations to rush to get electricity back to millions of homes and businesses.
As authorities attempted to determine the reason of the mass blackout that began at approximately 1033 GMT, several hospitals suspended regular operations, some stores closed, and the governments of the two nations called emergency cabinet sessions. Such large-scale outages are quite uncommon in Europe.
