After being singled out by anti-abortion extremists, a prominent Polish physician told the news that she worries about the safety of her patients.
Gizela Jagielska claims that because she performs legal abortions in a hospital in the southwest Polish town of Olesnica, she has received thousands of death threats.
Complicated pregnancies are the facility’s specialty.
Radical, far-right MEP Grzegorz Braun led a group of demonstrators who stormed the hospital on April 17, blocked Dr. Jagielska from leaving her office, and tried to execute a citizen’s arrest.
Social media footage also depicts the activists praying.
