John Proctor’s portrayal of Shelby, the villain, resonates with Sadie Sink.
In the well-known drama, Shelby is a rebellious adolescent who reveals a secret that causes her much personal suffering during an English class debate.
The Stranger Things actress has been nominated for a Tony Award for leading actress for her role in 2025.
“Shelby has a real emotional maturity that I don’t even know if she’s aware of yet,” she said to People during Thursday, May 8, the ‘Meet the Nominees’ press junket.
“That was always something I kind of related to; of growing up a little bit faster,” she said. “It’s just something that I’ve felt really connected to.”
