KARACHI: A group of medical professionals in the megacity have created a new therapy for two elephants with tuberculosis that entails giving them at least 400 pills daily.
The Karachi Safari Park staff’s big effort entails hiding the tablets, which are the same ones used to treat tuberculosis in humans, within foods like apples, bananas, and candies.
The weight of the 4,000-kilogram (8,800-pound) elephants is taken into consideration while calculating the dosage amount.
However, after spitting out the first few doses of the bitter medication they tasted and angrily berating their guardians, Madhubala and Malika have needed several weeks to get used to the treatment.
