More people in the nation are speaking out against Israel’s war in Gaza and the way it is being waged as it enters a new, bloody phase.
“If we don’t go back to acting like a sane country, Israel is on the way to becoming a pariah state, like South Africa was,” declared left-wing lawmaker and former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) deputy commander Yair Golan on Monday, sparking controversy.
“A sane state does not kill babies as a hobby, does not wage war against civilians, and does not set itself the goal of depopulating the population,” he said on the well-liked morning news program on Israeli public radio.
“Blood libel” is how Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the remarks.
