The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has blamed poorly installed rooftop solar panels for the extensive structural damage caused by the recent catastrophic wind and storm that swept over Punjab.
The Director General of PDMA Punjab, Irfan Ali Kathia, said on News’ morning show “Pakistan,” that the weather was “unprecedented” and “beyond expectations.”
He acknowledged that although there had been forecasts for heavy rainfall, the system’s severe ferocity had not been expected.
According to Kathia, there have been 124 recorded instances of structure collapse in Punjab thus far. He said that rooftop solar panels that were installed without enough safety precautions were directly responsible for an astounding 80% of these incidents.
