According to a Turkish news agency citing security sources on Sunday, a senior Daesh operative was apprehended during a combined intelligence operation between Pakistan and Turkey near a border region connecting Afghanistan.

“Abu Yasir Al Turki” is the codename of Ozgur Altun, the Daesh agent who was apprehended.

According to the report, Altun was wanted in Turkey for masterminding schemes to target concert venues and other civilian locations in Turkey and in Europe.

The operator was the top-ranking Turkish member of Daesh and was crucial to the militant organization’s logistical and propaganda networks, it further stated.

After monitoring Altun’s operations, Turkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) discovered that he was organizing the flow of Daesh fighters from Europe and Central Asia to the Afghanistan-Pakistan region.
