After a video of female students being caressed to check if they were wearing bras before an exam went viral, a Nigerian university provoked anger.
As students wait in line to enter an examination room at Olabisi Onabanjo University in southwest Ogun State, the video shows female staff members stroking several of the students’ chests.
A student representative defended the bra regulation as part of the school’s dress code intended to ensure “a distraction-free environment,” but the university has not yet responded to the video.
He did concede, though, that alternative methods were required to implement the policy, which has been denounced by detractors as sexist, outdated, and analogous to sexual assault.
