UNITED NATIONS: Urging all sides to continue talks and refrain from taking any steps that would heighten regional tensions, Pakistan has once again reaffirmed its support for a peaceful settlement to the Iran nuclear problem.
During a meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, Pakistan’s ambassador to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, stated that “dialogue and diplomacy remain the only practical way forward.”
“The most widely held view was that dialogue, diplomacy and constructive engagement were the only viable way forward,” he said.
US President Donald Trump declared that Israel and Iran had reached an agreement on a “complete and total ceasefire” just hours before Pakistan’s remarks at the UN.
