ISLAMABAD The Foreign Office has cleared up media rumors by stating that Khawaja Asif, the defense minister, and Rajnath Singh, his Indian counterpart, will not be meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Defense Ministers’ Meeting.
Asif will attend the SCO conference in Qingdao, China, which starts on Wednesday (today), the Foreign Office confirmed in a statement.
The potential of the first in-person meeting between the defense ministers of two South Asian nations since the recent military stalemate between Islamabad and New Delhi, however, has been raised by Turkish media sources.
Asif will head the Pakistani team to the two-day SCO meeting, according to Turkish media.
