PESHAWAR, ISLAMABAD, and SWAT: The nation’s senior leadership expressed their sympathies after 17 people were washed away by an unexpected surge of high water in the Swat River on Friday morning, resulting in at least nine fatalities.
Swat Deputy Commissioner Shehzad Mehboob said in a statement that rescue officials had found at least nine bodies and four people still alive, while they were working to find the other four people who had gone missing.
DC Mehboob provided information about the victims, stating that ten of the people engaged in the incident were Sialkot residents, six were Mardan residents, and one was a Swat local.
