ISLAMABAD: The director general of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has formed a special team to tackle hate speech on social media during Muharram in response to directions from the Ministry of Interior.
There will be a crackdown on hate speech, false information, and provocation on social media, the statement said. Those who use social media to foment hate speech and religious conflict will face harsh consequences.
To keep an eye on social media posts based on religious hatred, a group of professionals has been assembled, comprising police who monitor hate content, digital analysts, and technical specialists. According to the NCCIA, its major objective during Muharram will be to avoid incitement on social media, and anyone caught propagating hate would face legal repercussions.
