KARACHI: Although load shedding is nothing new to the people of the port city, frequent power outages are now making matters worse by seriously impairing the Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation’s (KWSC) operations and resulting in major disruptions to the city’s water supply, according to a KWSC spokesperson quoted in The News on Monday.
Only 24 hours after electricity was restored at the Dumlottee Pumping Station, another outage occurred, stopping the water supply to many regions, including Malir Cantonment, Khokhrapar, and Memon Goth, the spokesperson said, adding that power failures at the KWSC’s installations continue unabated.
The spokesperson bemoaned the fact that although the North East Karachi Old Pump House now has electricity again, several other significant institutions are still without it.
