On Wednesday, Khawaja Asif, the Minister of Defence and Aviation, hailed the lifting of the United Kingdom’s ban on Pakistani carriers, notably Pakistan International carriers (PIA), as a significant advancement for the nation’s aviation industry.
He blamed Ghulam Sarwar Khan, the former minister of aviation, and the party’s leadership for the crisis that resulted in the five-year ban, criticizing the previous PTI-led administration. “What and when to take action against those responsible will be decided by the government,” he continued.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Khawaja Asif claimed that the PTI government’s careless remarks had prompted foreign regulators to take action against PIA, harming not only the airline but also Pakistan’s reputation and sense of national identity.
