In an effort to increase regional connectivity and economic integration, Pakistan’s foreign minister and deputy prime minister, Ishaq Dar, announced on Thursday that the country has inked a trilateral railway agreement with Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
The goal of the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (UAP) Railway Project is to construct a rail connection between Uzbekistan and Pakistan via Afghanistan so that Central Asian states can more easily use Pakistani seaports.
It is anticipated that the project will support regional stability, growth, and development by facilitating regional trade and transit.
In a post on X, DPM Dar commended the governments and citizens of the three countries on signing the Framework Agreement on the Joint Feasibility Study for the UAP Railway Corridor’s Naibabad–Kharlachi rail link.
