In an effort to stabilize prices and shield customers from future inflation, the Punjab government has formally set the ex-mill and retail prices of sugar for the upcoming four months.
The Punjab Cane Commissioner announced in a statement that sugar prices will henceforth be controlled gradually between July 15 and November 14, with varying rates applied each month.
Official sugar prices were disclosed.
According to the alert:
July 15 through August 14:
Price ex-mill: Rs165 per kilogram
Price at retail: Rs177 per kilogram
15 August through 14 September:
Price ex-mill: Rs166 per kilogram
Price at retail: Rs176 per kilogram
Between 15 September and 14 October:
Ex-mill cost per kilogram: Rs179
Price at retail: Rs177 per kilogram
Starting on October 15:
Price ex-mill: Rs. 171 per kilogram
