KARACHI: The News said Thursday that a female nephrologist from Karachi saved the lives of two transplant candidates by donating both kidneys of her only 23-year-old son, who was deemed brain dead following a terrible car accident, in an unfathomable moment of anguish.
The sole son of Dr. Mahar Afroze, an associate professor at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) and consultant nephrologist, the deceased, Syed Sultan Zafar, was 23 years old and a dental student at Ziauddin Medical and Dental College.
He was the grandson of Professor Dr. Shershah Syed and Professor Tipu Sultan, two of Pakistan’s most renowned medical authorities.
