KARACHI: In a deliberate attack in the DHA Phase VI neighborhood of Karachi on Friday, senior attorney Khawaja Shamsul Islam was shot dead and his son was injured.
Police say that a masked attacker wearing a shalwar kameez opened fire on the lawyer and his son as they were leaving a mosque where they had attended a funeral prayer. Immediately following the gunshot, the assailant rode off on a motorcycle and left the scene without being confronted.
His kid was wounded in the back, and Islam was hit in the abdomen. After being taken to a private hospital nearby, the lawyer passed away from his wounds.
Police were informed by witnesses that the attacker had masked his face. From the crime site, police found one live bullet and two casings.
